British Airways Carry-on Baggage Allowance

• The cabin bag should not exceed the dimension of 56 × 45 × 25 cm.

• Your personal items include medicines, travel documents, laptops, mobile phones, chargers, and other electronic devices with lithium batteries, spare batteries, and power banks.

Extra Baggage in the Cabin

• Passengers carrying more than two pieces of hand baggage, then they must put the larger bag in the hold as checked baggage.
• Once you have used your free baggage allowance, then you must pay excess baggage fees.
• In some destinations, additional taxes will apply for any excess baggage.
• If your journey includes a flight with another airline, the allowance may be different.

British Airways Oversize Baggage Allowance

British Airways Baggage Allowance for Pets

British Airways allows cats, dogs, emotional support dogs, and service dogs in the cabin. However, the allowance of pets in the cabin depends on the route and size and breed of the animal.

• Pets traveling in British Airways flights should be transported in a waterproof bag or cage.
• The maximum dimensions of the cage should be 20 × 30 × 20cm.
• Larger dogs should be transported as checked baggage in the hold.

British Airways Damaged or Delayed Baggage Policy

In case the airline loses or damages your luggage or your bags arrive late, then the airline is liable to compensate you.

• You can file a complaint if your luggage or any of your belongings are missing.
• The missing bags are delivered within 72 hours of arrival.
• Missing bags should be reported within 8 days of arrival. However, you must complete a custom declaration before you leave the airport.
• You must report damages and losses of contents within 7 days of receiving your bags.
• You are entitled to receive compensation if the airline fails to track your luggage.

Sports Equipment

British Airways permits almost all kinds of sports equipment in the cabin or as checked baggage. If the sports kit fits in your hand baggage, then you carry it in the cabin for free. Additionally, if it fits in your checked baggage allowance and is not restricted, then it is free.

• Bikes
  Non-motorized pedal bicycles in a bike cover or box are to be transported as checked baggage. You must pack the bike in a heavy-duty polythene bike bag. The padded case or hard shell should not exceed the dimension of 190 × 95 × 65cm. The pedals must be removed and packed separately.

• Diving Equipment

The permitted diving equipment on a British Airways flights are listed below:

If you are carrying cylinder tanks, make sure the cylinder is empty. Harpoons and spear guns must be packed separately.

• Golf Clubs & Umbrellas
  Golf equipment must be transported as checked baggage and should be packed in a protective golf bag or hard case. The contents may include a set of golf clubs, a golf umbrella, a dozen balls, golf tees, and a pair of golf shoes.
• Ski & Snowboarding Equipment
  The dimension of your ski and snowboarding equipment should not exceed 190 × 75 × 65cm. Skis and snowboards ,ust be packed in a protective bag and can be in the same as your boots and clothes. If you are packing the boot separately, then you can carry the boot as hand baggage in the cabin.
• Surfboard & Kayaks
  Shorts surfboards and small kayaks under 190 cm in length are allowed. It must be packed in a protective bag as part of your checked baggage. Larger surfboards and kayaks, canoes, and paddles need to be shipped as cargo.
• Rackets, Rods, Cues, Sticks & Skateboards
  Tennis or squash rackets, collapsed fishing rods or billiards, snooker, pool cues, hockey sticks or traditional skateboard decks cannot be carried in the cabin. Each piece packed separately counts as an extra item and you may be charged for it. Electric skateboards are not allowed.

Musical Instrument

British Airways offers plenty of rooms for your musical instruments in its aircraft. If the musical instrument you bring fits in your checked baggage, then it will be free. However, before you pack anything, know the standard size and weights, which is permitted in a British Airways aircraft.

• An instrument in its bag up to 80 cm long can be carried in the cabin. Violin, viola, and small wind instruments are allowed in the cabin, as long as its dimension doesn’t exceed 80 × 45 × 25cm.
• If the dimension of your instrument exceeds 80 cm, and you want to carry it in the cabin, then you must buy an extra seat for it. Instruments, such as guitar, a larger wind instrument or a cello, with a dimension of up to 140 × 50 × 40 cm, can be carried in the cabin. However, the extra seat for the instrument is subject to availability and cannot be booked online. You must contact the airline at least 24-hours before departure.
• If your musical instrument weighs more than 50 lbs, then you may have to pay additional charges for the instrument. Instruments weighing between 50 lbs to 70 lbs can be either transported as checked baggage or shipped as cargo.

British Airways takes strict measures to ensure the safety of its passengers. For security concerns, the airline has prohibited some specific items from its flight. Hence, before boarding a British Airways flight, learn about the items you are not allowed to carry.

So, before you pack your bag, here are  some restricted articles you are not  allowed to bring.

Liquids, Creams, Powder, and Aerosols

Liquid

• Each liquid must be in its own container, which should not be more than 100 ml.
• You need to put the liquid items in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag of up to 20 × 20 cm.
• Aerosols are allowed to carry in the cabin, but must not be used on board.
• If you are flying to the US, there is a limit of 350 g on powdered items.

Toiletries, Medicines, and Aerosols

• You can carry non-toxic and non-flammable aerosols for home or sporting use.
• Hairsprays, perfumes, and cologne are allowed.
• Non-radioactive medicines including alcoholic medicines are allowed in the cabin.
• You must ensure the seals and leads are tightly closed.

Alcoholic Drinks

• You can carry as much alcoholic beverages with you as long as their alcohol volume is below 24%.
• You can bring up to 5 liters of alcohol with an alcohol volume between 24% and 70%. You can carry it in the cabin if you have purchased it at the airport duty-free shop.

Baby Food & Milk

If you are traveling with an infant, baby milk / baby food, powdered formula, and sterilized water are allowed in the cabin.
