Carry-on Emirates Baggage Allowance
- To ensure that travel is comfortable and safe for all customers, it is important that baggage carried in the cabin comply with a set of rules and Emirates baggage allowance, as decided under Emirates Airlines baggage policy.
- All cabin baggage must fit either under the seat in front of you or in one of the overhead lockers. Baggage may not be placed behind your legs, in the aisles or in front of emergency exits.
Here is the cabin Emirates baggage allowance per cabin class:
Economy Class
Only one piece of carry-on baggage allowed with a weight limit of 15 lbs. The baggage dimensions must not exceed 55 x 38 x 20 cm.
Premium Economy Class
Only one piece of carry-on baggage allowed with a weight limit of 22 lbs. The baggage dimensions must not exceed 55 x 38 x 20 cm.
Business and First Class
Only one piece of carry-on baggage and one personal item bag allowed with a weight limit of 15 lbs each. The carry-on baggage dimensions must not exceed 55 x 38 x 20 cm. The personal item bag’s dimension must not exceed 45 x 35 x 20 cm.
Traveling with infants
If you’re traveling with infants, then you are permitted to bring one carry-cot or one fully collapsible stroller into the cabin if there is room. If there is no space for these items in the cabin, they will have to be checked.
Boarding from India
In accordance with Emirates baggage allowance, all customers boarding from India are allowed one piece of carry-on baggage. The size of the carry-on baggage may not exceed 115 centimeters.
Travel from Brazil
For all flights departing from Brazil, customers can carry up to 22 lbs of cabin baggage.
Powders in cabin baggage
- As per Emirates baggage allowance, on flights to, from or through the US, and flights from or through Australia and New Zealand, powders in containers equal to or over 350ml are not allowed in carry‑on belongings or cabin baggage. If the limit exceeds, it will have to be checked in.
- Powders under 350ml may be subject to additional screening.
- Baby formula, prescription medicines and human remains are exempt.
- Powder‑like substances purchased in airport duty free shops must be placed in Sealed Tamper Evident Bags along with proof of purchase (receipt).
Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) in cabin baggage
- As per Emirates Baggage allowance, all liquids, gels and aerosols, pastes, lotions, creams, drinks and other items of similar consistency must be in containers with a capacity no greater than 100ml. Those carried in containers larger than 100ml will not be accepted, even if the container is only part‑filled.
- These containers must be placed in a transparent re‑sealable plastic bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding one liter. Larger bags or bags that are non‑sealable, such as fold‑over sandwich bags, are not allowed.
- Exemptions will be made for medications, baby milk / foods, and special dietary requirements. Appropriate and proportionate means of verifying the nature of such items will need to be available.

- The Emirates Airlines checked baggage allowance is categorized by piece system and weight system.
- The weight concept applies to most routes. The piece concept applies only on flights to and from the Americas and Africa. Your allowance depends on your destination, your fare, and your travel class.
Weight Concept

Delayed and Damaged Baggage
- As per Emirates Airlines baggage policy, if your baggage has been delayed or damaged on an Emirates flight, the airline will take full responsibility and will keep you updated at every stage of your claim.
- After you make a claim, you can access the information and updates about your delayed or damaged baggage, via the official website of Emirates. Enter your last name and file reference number (PIR). Your PIR number was sent to you after you filed your claim.
- If your baggage is delayed, then the airline will provide you with Interim Relief compensation. You can use it to purchase your daily essential items. Further, if your bag is declared lost, then Emirates will provide you with the entitled compensation.
- To avoid the delay and lost baggage scenarios the airline provides you with a baggage tracker option. Additional Baggage Policy

Adding additional piece
If the Emirates baggage allowance on your ticket is based on the number of pieces, you can purchase additional pieces online, at any of our offices, or at the airport. The weight allowance for each additional piece is 50 lbs in Economy Class, and 70 lbs in Business Class and First Class. Emirates Airlines Pet Policy

Sports Equipment
All sporting equipment including golf equipment, bicycles and ski equipment
Emirates will accept your sporting equipment as checked baggage and part of your standard baggage allowance. If you intend to take a bicycle as checked luggage, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance. Special packaging rules will apply.
Weight / Piece Concept
Individual items with total dimensions exceeding 300 cm cannot be transported as checked baggage, and must be sent as cargo or freight. There are no exceptions to this rule, in accordance with Emirates Airlines baggage weight limit.
Here are sports equipments rules:
- SCUBA
SCUBA equipment normally consists of diving suits, flippers, masks, snorkels, buoyancy control devices and so on. If air bottles are also carried, they must be emptied. - Sporting weapons and ammunition
Firearms designed for sporting purposes, such as target pistols and rifles, air guns, safari rifles, hunting rifles etc, may be carried as checked baggage on Emirates flights.
The firearm must be completely unloaded and, if possible, dismantled and packed inside a suitcase or standard gun case. - Ski equipment
Baggage policy of Emirates Airline states- ski equipment can be carried as part of your normal baggage allowance. However, in some situations additional charges may apply when checking in ski equipment. Please contact your local Emirates office for more information.
A set of snow ski equipment may consist of:

Other sports equipment
As per Emirates Airlines baggage policy, the airline will accept wind surf boards, kitesurfing equipment, kayaks, body boards, pole vault or other sporting equipment as checked baggage and part of your standard baggage allowance, provided that any sails are detachable and collapsible and total dimensions do not exceed 300 cm.
For carrying surfboards, fins should always be removed, or, if they cannot be removed, should be firmly packed with polystyrene foam. Also, the board should be packed in a properly padded surf‑bag.
Musical Equipment
Currently, the airline is unable to provide a special free Emirates baggage allowance for the carriage of musical instruments. These items must be handled as normal checked or cabin baggage (subject to cabin baggage limitations) or be transported in the passenger cabin, provided that it either fits in the overhead bin or you purchase an extra seat for it. If you check‑in your instrument and it exceeds your baggage allowance, the nominal excess baggage charges will apply, as per Emirates excess baggage policy.
Restricted / Banned Items
As per Emirates Airlines baggage allowance, dangerous goods, articles, and substances can endanger the aircraft and persons on board. - Alcohol
Alcoholic beverages, when in retail packaging, containing more than 24% but not more than 70% alcohol by volume, in receptacles not exceeding 5 L, with a total net quantity per person of 5 L. It can be carried both in carry-on and in hold luggage.
- Batteries and battery powered devices
Batteries spare/or loose, including lithium metal or lithium ion cells or batteries, for portable electronic devices must be carried in carry-on baggage only. It can be carried both in carry-on baggage only.
- Drones
For safety reasons we can’t allow drones on board as cabin baggage. Drones can only be accepted as checked-in baggage.
- Lithium Batteries: Portable electronic devices
Lithium Batteries: Portable electronic devices containing lithium metal or lithium ion cells or batteries, including medical devices such as portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) and consumer electronics such as cameras, mobile phones, laptops and tablets, when carried by customers or crew for personal use. It can be carried both in carry-on and in hold luggage.
- Smart baggage with removable batteries
Smart bags are allowed in the cabin if the battery is removable and within the cabin baggage size and weight limits. Smart bags are also permitted as checked baggage if the battery is removed and carried in the cabin.
- E-cigarettes
E-cigarettes (including e-cigars, e-pipes, Electric Portable Incense (Perfume) Burner or other personal vaporizers) containing batteries must be individually protected to prevent accidental activation. It can be carried both in carry-on baggage only.
- Battery powered wheelchairs and mobility aids
Mobility aids with both spillable and non-spillable batteries require prior approval for carriage, as per Emirates Airlines baggage rule.
- Personal motorized vehicles
For safety reasons, the airline has banned personal motorized vehicles such as hoverboards, mini-Segways and smart or self-balancing wheels on our flights.
- Avalanche rescue backpack
Avalanche rescue backpack, one (1) per person, containing a cartridge of compressed gas in Division 2.2. Are allowed but require prior approval for carriage.
- Hair curlers containing hydrocarbon gas
Hair curlers containing hydrocarbon gas, up to one per customer, provided that the safety cover is securely fitted over the heating element. These hair curlers must not be used on board the aircraft at any time. It can be carried both in carry-on and in hold luggage.
- Medical items
Items such as: Insulated packaging, Radioisotopic cardiac pacemakers, and Thermometer or barometer, can be carried with a prior approval from the airline.
- Dry ice (carbon dioxide, solid)
Dry ice (carbon dioxide, solid), in quantities not exceeding 5.5 lbs per person, when used to pack perishables can be carried as long as you take a prior approval.
- Other banned items
According to Emirates Baggage policy, items such as Lamps, Matches or a small cigarette lighter, Disabling devices, Electro shock weapons and Items containing explosives (fireworks) are strictly banned from carrying in cabin or as hold.
